James Allen
In “As a Man Thinketh,” James Allen shares his insight into the connection between our thoughts and the realities we experience. It's a quick read, I literally read this book in transit during a single flight. However, don’t let that steer you from thinking the value of the content is limited. To the contrary, this book is filled with timeless insight and value. The value is something you will need to discover yourself, but being timeless can be understood by the simple fact that this was written over a century ago and yet today multiple publishers offer his work.
Reading “As a Man Thinketh” felt like I was reading the book behind the book. Many of the quotes from this book I have seen elsewhere, but with a minor tweak here and there. Sadly, in most cases, credit is not offered where it was due, otherwise I would have come to find James Allen’s work much sooner. Of course, James Allen himself would have had his influences. Makes me wonder, who were his influencers? What literary works influenced him? I’m sure someday I will find the book(s) behind the book once again.
